RESTLESS SPIRIT's third album 'Afterimage' hits the mark of the East Coast trio never wanting to sound exactly the same as before. Their sizzling Long Island guitar sound meets stomping rhythms and emotionally raw vocals. While the predecessor 'Blood of the Old Gods' (2021) occasionally led the listener into a complex labyrinth, 'Afterimage' delivers short, sharp shocks. Tragedies and personal loss have shaped 'Afterimage' lyrically. Singer and guitarist Paul Aloisio pours his heart and soul into this album. The core of RESTLESS SPIRIT, Aloisio and bassist Marc Morello, have known each other since before kindergarten, grew up together, and then discovered music together. The friends initially transformed their influences like BLACK SABBATH, TYPE O NEGATIVE, and THE SWORD into aggressive, modern metal by incorporating elements of stoner doom, dynamic shifts, and rough vocals. In 2019, they finally named their band RESTLESS SPIRIT. The debut album 'Lord of the New Depression' (2019) fit equally well into the categories of stoner rock, doom metal, and sludge. On the follow-up 'Blood of the Old Gods,' the trio developed a more diverse, melodic approach with greater complexity. Live, the band from Long Island has already embarked on several Tours and shared the stage with such giants as CROWBAR, THE OBSESSED, and CANNIBAL CORPSE. With 'Afterimage,' RESTLESS SPIRIT land a powerful blow to the gut, both musically and thematically, that feels damn good once the initial pain subsides.
